Primula Sphondylia section

The Sphondylia section of primulas come from surprisingly hot places, like the Sinai peninsula and Ethiopia, where admittedly they inhabit shady, damp places. They have leaves thickly dusted with farina, which also coats the flower stems, each carrying one or two whorls of bright yellow flowers. They are related and bear some resemblance to Dionysia species (not the cushion ones) – which the botanists tell us should really be primulas anyway, They should be grown in an alpine house or greenhouse.
