Indigofera

This is a large genus of about 750 species of shrubs or small trees (and a very few annual and perennial herbs), all with pinnate leaves and racemes of pea flowers - so structurally like Laburnum. They come from tropical and subtropical regions, but some are from high mountains, and they can be hardy in Britain. A few species are the source of the dye indigo.
