The Parryi section comes exclusively from western North America, growing mainly in areas that are hot and dry in summer, although they choose relatively wet sites within these areas. They have rather robust foliage, and bright pink flowers. Out of flower they look quite similar to Dodecatheon species, so it is not too surprising that botanists have (using DNA evidence as well) moved the latter lock, stock and barrel into Primula, although with the courtesy of giving them a new section of their own.
