Grape hyacinths have tight heads of small, bell-shaped flowers on an erect stem. They multiply quickly to give good colour in spring. There are also genera that have been split from Muscari, including Leopoldia (the 'tassel' species) and Pseudomuscari.
Muscari armeniacum 'Valerie Finnis' has porcelain blue flowers.
