Most members of this genus are grown for their foliage, and there is a huge range of varieties with exotic coloured leaves. They make great ground cover, or can be used to soften the edges of paths. Heuchera americana has fresh green foliage with red veins. Panicles of greeny-white flowers appear in early summer.
